Google Earth Colorization = Bad Idea

Frank Taylor at the Google Earth Blog has a good post up on changes in Google Earth imagery. Google has colorized imagery to remove differences in contrast, brightness, source etc., apparently in an effort to get rid of the “patchwork quilt” look. In the process, they’ve added horrible color artifacts to some areas – see Frank’s post for examples. He thinks this is a terrible approach, and I agree; I’m not crazy about the patchwork look, but better that than this.
